MY IDEA FOR THE EXHIBITION
Hello Everyone,
For the project I am thinking of a contemporary spin on our devices/appliances that we use today and how convenient, or sometimes inconvenient, they can be.
When the fax machine was new to household consumers it was very helpful and many people started having them in their homes. No we rely primarily on Email and electronic information transferring rather than copies or fax of hard documents. For the show I was thinking of putting a regular fax machine either on a desk or just a plinth with a piece of paper about to be sent through the fax. The letter would read something like this:
ATTN: Friends
Here is my new Email address:
(A phony Email address)
I had to gety rid of my old Email account again since I got too much Spam.
Thanks, (Phony Name)
I am thinking that the fax is now old technology, yet it served a good purpose before its new form. The problem here is that the new electronic data transferring can have major issues, such as spam and viruses, that we never would have had in the past. Now this person must rely on the fax machine once again to let everyone know of his situation. The Email is more inconvenient in some ways although it seems to be a means to the future.
Let me kow what you think of it. It is just an idea that emphasizes the notion that modern technology can be more of a hassle than intended but we are now acustom to it.
